the props are made..? and chopper faqs.

I know Grendel has been working like an angry little beaver on props for Super 61 & 64 including the "people", flags stations and choppers. I think the people and flags are done, and Im just curious about the 4 choppers.

As I understand the choppers - they are a constrction of PVC pipe around 7 feet long with 6 sections of rope. each chopper holds a pilot and 6 passengers.

to "ride" you hold the pipe- guns plugged and guns up. and the chopper can not be fired upon. (this is why we have refs fly the birds)

flying: the players walk, holding the pipe. the mission leader can direct the pilot where to go, etc. flight time may be limited.

to get off you "fast rope down" by sliding your hand down a section of rope stepping away from the pipe counting "one one thousand - two one thousand three one thousand" on your way down the rope. At the ropes end, you let go and immediately pull plugs, and you are on the ground, able to fire and be fired upon.

players may get off all at once, or drop off as needed. The chopper does not have to stop to get off. only players on the ground may be fired upon.

to get back on: the pilot must physically sit on the ground, and the passengers grab hold of the pipe and plug their barrels - when the pilot stands up, they are airborn again and may not be fired upon.

we will demonstrate at the safety briefing.

Many missions use chopper insertions, extractions, and recon. I think Grendel may be flying a few missions himself to help things go clean as MANY teams have never seen a chopper mission in scenario ball.

They are a lot of fun, but down right scarey.

Mogs aint got no choppers..

Thumper has it pretty much right. I'll take soom pictures of the Choppers tonight and post on this thread so you guys and gals can get an idea of what we are talking about.

I guess I have to build another since Thumper said 4 Choppers vice the 3 I've built.

We definitely will be giving a demo during the briefing since this will be new to everyone. This is the first time "Choppers" have been done this way that we know of and we would appreciate any feedback on how it actually worked out so we can fine tune as necessary in the future.

props..

this will be very mission oriented - we are trying to follow the story line of the Battle of Mogadishu which was a very tactical "reaction" based battle. This makes our game a military simulation event. Hence, very little is added to distract from the story line, and nothing "silly" like farting rotund pricilla's.

All props work to support the story line. right now 100% of points are tied directly to missions. I recommend every one watch the Black Hawk Down movie and maybe surf the web for the actual first hand accounts.

Hope this helps - keep'um coming. tick tock - tick tock..
