Spy Bird..

Im chewing on other toy for the rangers - similar in concept the fixed wing aircraft in Vietnam used for C&C and SAR - no guns, no passengers..

Purpose: Recon and Intelligence Gathering.
Format: uses same fuel cards as the black hawks use. 30 minute flight time.

Pilot is unarmed - cant shoot or be shot and he must carry or wear something.
Im thinking one of those orange bike flags on a fiberglass rod - or a flag mounted on a 6' x 2" PVC pipe.

Any suggestions?

One should be plenty.

Being on the Mog team. I think that would be kinda cheap personally. I get the whole chopper thing, but some guy walking around seeing were you are. And the individual not being able to shoot him. Also what about the RPG's if a person on the Mog team shoots it down then what?

spy bird - part 2

Im brainstorming this spybird for the rangers idea - yall feel free to contribute

Construction: 2 meter staff with large white flag (US Army)

Purpose: Recon and Intelligence Gathering.

Operations : Uses same fuel cards as the black hawks use: 30 minute max flight time.

Pilot carries staff with flag flying freely.

The pilot can not land, except at base. Since it cant land, it cant deliver cards, bombs, or other props or supplies. Its only purpose is intelligence.

No guns or armaments - can not fire or be fired upon.

No passengers - only the pilot

Pilot must leave from own base and return to own base within 30 minutes - surrendering fuel card to base ref upon departure.

Flight path can not be within 300 feet of enemy base, or within 150 feet of any known enemy held structure or within 50 feet of any stationary enemy player.

Pilot may radio any discoveries - but NOT yell or verbably communicate to friendlies on the ground. His radio & eyes are his only weapon.

Pilot may not fly inside any roofed structure.

The pilot and minibird may not be used for cover (like a tank) by infantry.

Suggested uses: Spybird Pilot may fly ahead of Black Hawk providing intel to Blackbird chalk leader, Spybird may fly ahead of friendly mission ground forces sweeping for ambushes and enemy fortifications.

I like it...But newer players might confuse it with the choppers unless there are some definite differences.

er..

the huge white flag and a clear demonstration at the briefing aught to clear up any confusion.

I would also limit the number of fuel cards that can be used. Maybe even have a total of x number of cards to be used for all aircraft missions. This would require the general to decide the priorities as the game goes on.
