How do Tanks work? (Newbie)

Ok I couldnt decide if the should go into the Tank forum or the Newbie forum. I have been hearing about tanks in paintball, mainly scenario paintball, for a while now but not really sure how they work and what rules apply to their use.

I have paintballed for about 3 years but I mainly done it amongest friends and in a wooded area owned by people we knew so we basically did paintball our way and there were no tanks.

So my questions are:

1. Do the guns on the tank actually shoot or are they mainly for show and you just use your marker to shoot out them?

2. Are there any websites that I can go to that will show how to make one? (know the basics but if the guns on the tank actually shoot then I will need to know how that works)

3. How does one destroy/kill a tank in the middle of the game?

The main gun fires a Nerf Rocket and can only be shot at other tanks and bunkers/buildings. There also a either Firing ports for regular paintguns or they have semi-permanent mounts for paintguns to shoot at regular players with.

2. Are there any websites that I can go to that will show how to make one? (know the basics but if the guns on the tank actually shoot then I will need to know how that works)

Warpig.com has large forum and here but none have How To Build in one place just sample of what individuals have done and how they did it.

3. How does one destroy/kill a tank in the middle of the game?

1 - Another Tank Shoots it with its main gun (Nerf Rocket) 2 - Player with a 'Laws Rocket' shoots said tank (Nerf Rocket) 3 - Player throws a 'Satchel Charge' and hits the tank (game prop)

Ill try to answer some of your questions.

#1) Yes the cannons on paintball tanks shoot Nurf Rounds, they are small football looking soft projectiles with stabalization fins. Fired with Co2 or High Pressure Air. And have to be chroned to field limits just like paintball markers.
Tanks also have paintball markers on them as well.

#2) Look at this link also do a Google search "Paintball Vehicals Tanks" and you will have lots to read.
Armored Paintball Vehicle Gallery

#3) There are several ways to knock out a tank.
Shoot it with a "Bazooka" which is the same as a tank "Cannon" but is carried by a player and shoots Nurf Rounds as well.
There are "Satchel Charges" Just a type of bag similar to a sholder bag. That is thrown onto a paintball vehical.
It has to be deployed with a Ref watching and have a demolition card to record the tanks distruction. It has no active paint, or other device in it just the bag its self.
Shoot the vehical with a special color paintball, which also has to be done with a ref present and a demo card.
To disable a tank for 5min hit it with a paintgrenade.
The tank won't be able to move but still can still shoot.

Thies all are perty much the norm.
There are a ton of rules about tanks, that vary from Scenario producer and Field.
Thier are a bunch of different types of tanks some made from golf carts, others from ATV type, Walking tanks with no motors only moved by man power. And thies days motor vehicals are being enployed as tanks.
Insurance also is a big factor for any tanks which want to play in a game. There are standards that differ from field to field.
There are others on PBJunkie that have a vast knoweledge about tanks. Im sure there going to help answer your question as well. I hope I've given you a small start.

Thanks for all the info. I greatly appreciate it.

I just have one more question to ask. Are tanks a basic standard for paintball fields or just random fields have them?

IA: Generaly speaking, Fields don't have tanks, Team's or Indivigual players do.
I wouldn't call them basic, most teams don't have Tanks. Rec Paintball play dosn't usually have tanks, They are mostly for Scenario's.

PBC and BearClaw have their own though. Rod is right as usual though. It usually begins with one crazed scenario player building one and then giving the tank virus to others. Laws guys have the retro form of the virus because just shooting people is not enough adrenaline flow for them anymore. They only get high challenging tanks to the cheers of the downtrodden (We -tankers- call them crunchies).

Check out a scenario game sometime and if tanks are present go over and say hi and ask to see inside. Tankers are usual more good natured than other players cause of the freaking patience and $ it takes to get one on a field. If only our butts are hanging out for long periods at a time come back later though cause we'll be in a bad mood (something broken usually).

Castro handed me a mission card 3pm on Saturday that simply said: Find Bob. Motivate him.

Flames and explosions don't deter me. But this..... I still have the card.
