Nerf Rocket Needed/ New Launcher...

Hi all, it's Nelson from Tactmark...flashback from Charleston...

Barry from Wolf Creek PB was kind enough to lemme ride along in his tank and I was able to experience a tank battle in person. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun!

A couple of you guys showed me some shoulder fired anti tank weapons and I saw some decent if spartan "RPGs"... I explained how you guys would use these things to "kill" tanks in your scneario games to my engineers and they think they can make a launcher of some sort.

Now, I dunno if you guys like shoulder fired launchers, or perhaps a M203 type launcher that you can mount underneath your markers. The idea is to run a spilt adaptor off the air system so the launcher and the marker both feed off the same air source.

Another idea my engineers are throwing around is a revolver like launcher like the military uses for M203 rounds. I dunno the exact make and model, but it's a launcher that holds 6 rds in a rotating drum.

Any ideas, feed back?

**************************************************

Also, if anyone of you can help me out and send me a couple of NEW nerf rockets pls PM me. I'm willing to pay for the rockets and shipping. I had a very tight schedule when I was in the states and I was unable to find them after visiting a Toy R Us before I left.

Thanx!

We're planning for a RIS mounted M203 to fit under our TM4 series markers with a RIS system. The biggest challenge right now is to leave enough tube length to better guide the rocket to help lengthen and straighten the flight path of the rocket while not making the M203 too long so that it' looks bigger than the gun above it.

Once I get some rockets here, I'll have a prototype made and do some test firing.

BTW, do you guys have velocity limits for these things? When I was in Charleston, someone mentioned 200-250 fps as the max?

I believe the JCS rocket launchers are fixed at 180 - 200 fps.

220-240 for most fields. From experience I find 190-200 provides a more stable initial flight path and is less stressful on the Nerfs.

i agree with wizard, after you pass 200 you can damage the rocket with the intial force of the blast and wear and tear is quicker. i've been working on a shoulder fired launcher, but i'm having trouble with the tigger mechanism. i want to use a push button with an electronic valve, but i'm just having trouble finding a proper mounting place. any ideas? the grip is a 45 style grip from an old spyder TL plus and the frame is an old WWII rifle i found online. i have it all done, just can't figure out the trigger.

As far as the drum launcher; are you thinking to use the Thunder grenades or a air cannon where each cylinder has ammo but the gun it's self fires the air and not the round firing the air..?

Jester, that'd the idea. We've studied an airsoft version, and believe it or not, it follows the general dynamics of the real steel version where the launcher itself is a BIG revolver with a rotating drum and a spring loaded firing pin that strikes the grenade to fire it. In the real thing, you'd have actual M203 grenades, and the airsoft ones use a device that looks like a M203, holds a bunch of bbs, BUT has gas inside the device to propel the bbs.

A PB version would have to be completely different as the projectiles themselves have no internal power source. The version we're thinking of making would have an expansion chamber built into the launcher, probably sitting behind the drum. Every shot is propelled by the propellent inside the chamber, and the chamber is recharged after each shot.

We're still in a design only phase, I'm sure things will get more complicated as we progress.
