feel free to add me to msn messenger :ljlagnese@hotmail.com and when you have time to break it down we can get more detailed by a little bit more direct communication

on the paint chopping were you using whatever the black case was they were selling that day or something else?

I always buy at least one step up from the bottom at fields when using my flatline due to it being a little bit picky about paint. I prefer proball or marbalizer, not that i know if proball is even around anymore

My velocity was all over the place not consistant at all..........and i was using the paint they were selling( i thought they only had one kind) and yes i have the stock barrel but it seemed to be having the same problems....im gettiing ready to open it up, clean and re-oil everything.....Hopefully after that I will have some more information.....as of now...im shooting very unaccurate and breeaking about every 3-4th ball!

Not sure why I didn't think of it before, but check your Ball Latch (more commonly called a detente or nubbin) Item FA-18 on the schematic. Make sure it's extending into the breach and that when a single ball is fed, it is held in place against the 02-17 Front Bolt. You can experiment with this by taking off the barrel, leaving the gun ungassed and manually pushing one ball at a time into the cyclone then into the breach. If the ball is advancing past the detente it will produce result similar to what you describe, including the varied velocity, lots of chopped paint, and super poor accuracy.

I should mention that the A-5 is an Open Bolt paintball gun. That means that when the gun is cocked and ready to fire, the breach (the place where the round rests before being fired) is open to the feed. You have to cock the marker before loading the paintball. Then pulling the trigger will push the paintball out of the marker. In normal operation on an A-5 the front bolt will push the ball forward slightly before the air hits the ball, this little nudge increases deformation of the ball and (so say the paintball theorists) decreases accuracy. If the ball is resting a little forward of the front bolt, the bolt will HIT the ball leading to more deformation and possible breaks. If the ball is FAR ahead of the front bolt a second ball will partially enter the chamber, and the front bolt will clip this ball as it goes past, leading to a "chopped ball". Suddenly the breach and barrel are full of paint and shell and everyone knows, that's bad stuff. Now you can't shoot straight, your velocity flies all over, and you break MORE paint as the goo on the detente prevents new paintballs from loading properly-- especially in a barrel like the flatline that does NOT self-clean at all AND in a marker like the A-5 where chopped balls leave goo all over the cyclone feed and the breach.

So anyway, clean the gun, (right down to removing the cyclone and cleaning it thoroughly) and make sure the detente is holding the balls in place and doesn't have paint or shell in/under it. Normally you will only have to remove and clean the cyclone when you've had a bad break in the breach or a broken ball in your hopper.

Alright heres is todays analysis...I broke the gun completely down and cleaned it well....everything that was mentioned seemed to be in place BUT>>> check this out...the back of the gun where an after market stock is inserted....before putting an after market stock on there is a cap with a large O ring on it.....the instruction for the stock do NOT say to put a O ring on it it simply states to put the O ring it provides inside against the bolt then insert stock.....ok well on the stock there is also place for an O ring so me thinking maybe I should take the ring off of the other cap and put it onto the stock end....then also put the O ring provided with the stock up against the bolt like instructed!!!!!! Now I am not sure if this was the cause because I only got about 50 shots from the tank I have here before it was too low to move the cyclone BUT those 50 shots were very accurate and decent in velocity.....Could this have been the problem!!!! I had a ring on the stock.....and one inside up against the bolt(wich in theory would probably keep the bolt from moving like it should correct????????)

Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. The back of an A-5 has a lot to do with how the gun works. Zen what do you think?

There should never, ever be an O-ring just resting against the back of the 92-12A Rear Bolt. It's probably just rattling around in there loose, but eventually it'll get pinched by the moving back bolt, the sear, or the drive spring. None of those things happening will be good.

As for the resolution of your problem (if it's fixed), I think it was probably just cleaning and oiling the gun that did it.
