Ace you and me are a lot a like. I'm determined to make a sniper gun out of my A-5. I'm working on mine. I hope to have it by the April 8th game.

Thanks Ace.
For a sniper I'd say a long barrel and Air instead of CO2 are your best bets. With the long barrel you can pull off the olde one shot one kill and maybe save your concealment and with air you don't get the CO2 cloud.

well an a-5 accuracy is kinda crappy, i mostly use it as a heavy machine gun. i say get a phantom if you want to snipe

giantsloth is correct.
An A-5 out of the box or with a flatline barrel is not very accurate, but like most markers the accuracy is a function of the barrel and to a lesser degree the bolt and chamber. With a good match of barrel and paint I can put paint in a mark as tight as anything out there. Even with a response trigger I can't put paint out at the $30.00 a second rate of an ion, or markers like that but I can hold my own. When you get your A-5 together post a pic so we can see how it worked out.

I think both the A-5 and the Phantom are acurate. I have both guns. My A-5 with my flatline, or hammer head is pritty dang accurate. I kinda like to be loud and incharge though, so I use the flatline, and use the phantom when I'm doing a mission that can be done without incodent.

I've been using my A-5 (Big Bertha) for the last 9 months. And I've tried an 18", 14" and Flatline barrels with it (they all are the same in the loud factor) and an E-Grip. Personally, I love the loudness of the A-5, especially when spitting out 10 bps. 1. When you fire, everyone starts looking around and goes for cover (even if you are not shooting at them). 2. My team mates know where I am at. 3. One of my team mates has an Ion (they are very quiet) and follows me around. When I stop firing, the enemy looks around and he shoots them so no one hears him. I know some people don't like the sound, but I think it is intimidating. |

USArmymanofwar has the right idea, the more we talk about trying to come up with a way to make an A-5 quiet the less I like the idea.
When I'm layed up in cover and get my shot the guy can usually figure out where it came from, but it i sas he is walking to the deadbox wiping the paint off his mask.

Why try to make a gun (A-5) quiet when it isn't. If someone is wanting to be a sniper (and be quiet) I think there are better options. True sniper gun is the LongBow. Many of my friends have an Ion and it is super quiet. Tippman's have a heavy bolt and use 800 - 850 psi which is going to be loud. IMHO. |
