A-5 R/T fixes???

I've spent more time fixing and adjusting my RT than shooting with it.
does anyone esle have this problem??

did the "straw mod" and partial "Super RT" mod, only to destroy a rachet.
Replaced that, took it all out, and it's still tempermental. Tried HPA, but even at 850-900psi, new springs and o-rings, still can't get velocity over 250fps.
then replaces power tube, new bolt....and no change

does anyone have the secret recipe for a Tippy RT? I don't have the single banjo fitting to take it off, guess I'll have to order parts just to rip it out.

Really looking at going E-grip w/ LPK.....or selling

ANY THOUGHTS????????

Go to these two forums and use the search function first because there is a wealth on information already there. If you still can't find what you're looking for, post your problems and gun symptoms:

UndergroundModShop.com
WeekendWarriorsPaintball: A-5 Owners Den

Between them there are many years of experience and nearly all of them were members of the original A-5 Owner's Group (A5OG)

And to answer your question, no, I have not heard of anyone having this much trouble with their A-5.

By the way, when you add the Super RT mod (not sure what your "partial" Super RT mod is), you have to expect heavy wear on your ratchet if the cyclone is feeding at 15-20+ bps. You go into it expecting to buy new ratchets or get the Vortex Mod.

The Joker speaks the truth. If you cant find the answers on the Weekend Warriors site or the UMS, then it cant be fixed.

Thanks Guys,

Yeah, I'd been all over the A5OG (where the mods came from) and underground mods (not alot but some help)....
Mainly the only thing I've seen is that with the super RT mod (which lifts the sear, shortens the RT stroke, and tightens up the trigger slop) not only will it wear out ratchets, but sears and bolts as well.
I remachined the sear and bolt wear areas (barely visible to the eye, but rounded enough to not catch) and now it seem to be working okay.
I've got new parts on order, but it'll be a week or so.

I haven't had a chance yet to check it on a chrono after the seat/bolt repair. I had put on an RVA earlier and the extra adjustment seemed to help.

It's like owning a darn Harley.....more to come

you'll either see one mean A-5 working well or for sale "as-is" at Operation Torch

here's the best fix

first...never, never add a "straw" to the sear rest pin...it's just not worth 2-5 bps extra. Second, if you have an R/T get the larger 1/8" fittings and hoses from Tippmann for the LPK application. Yeah it's a gas hog but the ROF and reliability is much more effective than slipping the sear and wearing it out faster to increase your rate!

and best kudos of all of Tippmann's service dept.
all parts free
all parts arrives in 2-3 days

and THAT is why Tippmann remains a super popular brand despite what many would label as inferior equipment.
