BT series marker

I was looking at getting a tactical marker. And until I found the BT I was going with the tippmann 98 but the Bt-4 assault is more the type marker I was looking for but I wanted to know what you guys think of these guns first.

1 of my main concerns are parts availabity for the BT-4. On pbreviews someone had said that the BT-4 internals are the same as a tippmann 98 custom. Can anyone verify this statement?

Any info you can give for this marker would be helpfull. Right now the price of 98 custom with car stock and sights but stock gun and barrel is 200 and the BT-4 is only 250.

Thanks

well I'll post what I found in case someone else needs to know. BT is Ben Tippmann the nephew of danny tippmann witch is the owner of tippmann sports. Ben used to work for tippmann sports. He has since started his own paintball business called BT paintball designs. Tippmann sports has a press release on the tippmann.com site about ben taking the designs, and tippmann sports is in now way related to BT. BT company website is

www.bentippmann.com

The BT-16 and BT-4 are simular guns were from what I have read in reviews from others that have used other tippmann parts in these guns. The BT-4 has mostly 98 custom internal parts. With an A-5 trigger system and will take A-5 barrels.

Basicly to some it all up BT is using the tippmann sports designs( A-5, pro carbine, 98 custom ) In the guns he makes he is puting parts of all into these 2 guns making them a pretty good all round woodsball gun. But as of right now the verdict is still out on these markers. If I can find out more then I will post. I maybe able to tell first hand about the BT-4, I really like it and am rounding up the funds for now.

if you get a bt 4 i expect a full report! i imagine they are good, but just because we assume something doesnt mean it comes to be so. I would probably reccomend the 98c but not the one with the plastic power tube.

I really like it specialy since I have found out that most of the parts are 98c and A-5. I have a friend that I play with thats using BT-16 and its very accurate and has hard velocities so I know that part is true, I have the welps to prove it. lol

About 2weeks and I'll have the dough to order it.

well right now woods ball is my main game of choice. hopefully will be getting on some scenerios this year. but if you are asking because of the fact that BT is large and bulky I already have a spider if I decide to play something else. but my fav is scenerio or woodsball. I like being a ghost flanker.

its in the mail

Well I finally order the BT-4 assault. Bought from one of my new favorite online paintball stores 888paintball.com. So far they have been great, ok prices, but I have not been able to beat the shipping anywere else. One price on shipping(around $10.00) and get the item within 2-3 days.

I paid about 240.00 and got shipping for free on the gun. Mid week next week I should have a full report posted on it. Maybe we can put some of the rumors to rest.

well it has finally arrived. So just from shooting around in the yard at about 30-40 yards the accuracy of the barrel is pretty good considering I'm shooting crap walmart paint.(Zap. Its all I have at this point.) One of the issues that was brought up a few times was the weight of the gun with full assault kit ( M4 barrel, sight rail/handle, adjustable car stock.) The weight of this gun is supprising less than a a-5 with stealth kit. Another thing I like is the fact that the feed neck slides back for running a quick squeegy through it if a ballbustes. But as for ball busting out of 350 I did not bust any and thats with a gravity fed hopper. Also the barrel for the gun is a screw in type but there is an adapter that fits like the a-5 style with the insert and half turn. That adapter is put in while gun is apart and once in then it allows for screwing in barrels.

There is a downside to this gun. Stripping this gun is no easy task. It has a simular casing to the a-5 were the case comes apart. But with the bt4 there are screws instead of quickrelease. Also everything must come off this gun before you can access internals. I'm sure I'll become more effective with time. Unlike the a-5 with car stock if the 20oz tank is attached to the gun the tank over hangs the stock by about an inch. Witch to me is a little uncomfortable. So I will be looking into a remote hose.

Overall so far I like it. The weight vs the size is my favorite thing right now. For $240 shipped I'm very impressed. Here in the near future I will experimenting with some of my buddies a-5 parts. Like the flatline barrel, checking to see if the cyclone will fit considering the case is the same as a-5.

The real test will come this weekend ( weather permitting ). I'll be giving this gun a feild test. Good ol game of woodsball.

The results

Ok after a wonderfull 6hours of woodsball. I have decided I love this gun. the accuracy and only 1 chop out of 700 paintballs.

I did confirm that the internals of the BT-4 are exactly like the custom 98. And the ports on the site of the gun are exactly like the custom 98. My cusin had a custom 98 today with responce trigger.( his real dad owns a pawn shop with lots of paintball guns. he plays with something different eveytime.) The ports he uses are exactly the same. The only thing is the trigger for the bt-4 is an a-5 trigger. And the bt-4 takes a-5 barrels. After disassembling the custom 98 and bt-4. The bt is easier than a custom 98. Since the trigger is an a-5 trigger. The entire trigger comes off like a spyder. Then that only leaves the main part of the gun. If my scanner will work I will have a picture of the internals from the bt manual.

If I can get an a-5 disassembled next to my bt I will let you know if cyclone will work with bt. As of right now I think the cyclone upgrade for a custom 98 will fit the BT-4, but I'm not sure yet. I may have to just order it an try to find that out. An help from you custom 98 guys with cyclone would be very helpful. I would love to get a cyclone on this gun.

The Bt-4 (which i play with and have customized out) is the best gun i have used it is the most durable all-round gun. It has the same sie rails as on a real M-16 or any other gun with rails so u can put whatever u have for rails on the Bt-4's rail. Right now i have a 14 in. J&J ceramic barrle and E-triagger and im waiting for the Halo Ripclip to come out (fully).
