Setting Dwell on new boards

Most of the new boards for the egrip say you can set the dwell. The dwell as I understand it is the amount of air that is released to shoot the ball. Since the valve is operated by the hammer hitting it which is controled by the spring behind it how is being able to set the dwell relevant on the grip board relevant?

Guys correct me if I am wrong but the dwell is how long the sear is triped, the amount of air is controled by your velocity screw. Longer dwell more contact time with sear less battery life, shorter dwell faster follow up shots longer battery life. To short doesnt fire.

But still the spring pushes the hammer into the valve release and the pressure from the valve shoots the ball and throws the hammer back to be caught by the trigger mechanism. How can setting the dwell do anything but keep the trigger from catching thus letting the hammer come flying back to the valve.

If the trigger is not engaged to catch the hammer as it comes back the hammer will just bounce back and forth from the valve to the rear sear. (Full Auto)

Every solenoid will be slightly different, and require a slightly different amount of power to actuate it properly. You could use the dwell to find the minimum required to move the solenoid, then give it one or two more for reliability.
True, it's not as big a deal as it is with fully pneumatic markers, but it's an extra way to fine tune your gun in this case.
