National Guard Event

I saw in the paper that you guys were hosting the NGpb tournament for USC students. I'm getting my group of buddies that usually come out with me and a few others to register. I can endure a few pesky recruiters for some fun-filled paintball.

I have a few questions that I can't find answers to on their site.

1) Are you allowed to use your own guns or are we suppose to be on level ground with rentals?

2) It says free paint, but I have a hard time believing the extent. How much paint will be provided to each team?

3) Any idea on what sort of recruiting tactics they are going to employ that we should be prepared for? Should we expect to be drilled for an answer or guilt-tripped the whole time or is it going to be a pretty laid back environment?

Any more information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. can use your own guns if you have them. keep in mind most of these peeps probably never touched a paintball gun before.

2. the $25 dollar a person registration gets you 500 rounds. any one who has played before will be shooting way more then that. not sure if the NG has already bought a set amount of cases with wich you can reload off of after that or not. so be prepared to purchase more if needed.

3. no clue

My team has come up two players short. Two of our guys got scheduled to work so anybody who is looking for a team or plans on going out solo - give me a yell and we'll tag you up with us.

Once again, we need TWO people. Thanks.

recruiters almost always will lay the part of the really laid back cool guy who wants to be your friend. he won't push the military on you much at first. it'll be discussed, but he'll just try and lower your defenses via casual chit-chat... don't give up your phone # EVER. yes i know what i am talkin about... LOL... a recruiter got me 4 years ago.

Ah, I see the old "Military Recruiter vs. Civilian Kid" war has flared up in yet another part of the country, heh. The whole thing is a two way street. Here's a few tips to avoid the whole bad-taste-in-your-mouth-thing.

The recruiters don't care what is going on or who they are going to meet. It's a job to them and they see every potential soldier as a number; a mission, if you will. They just go to work and try and get the job done. Much like civilians when they go to work and fix yet another computer or dig yet another ditch or roof yet another house or flip yet another burger. It's just a job to them.

That's bad thing number one. Bad thing number two comes from the civilians. They approach every military member like they have the plague. The word "recruiter" sends shivers down children's spines alomst as bad as "Werewolf". Civilians attend events they know recruiters will be at with the mindset of "let's just go and hope none of those lepers gets within ten feet of us". If you just think of them as people trying to get a job done and be polite, things will go a lot more smoothly. It's hard to recruit someone when they say "No, thank you, sir. I am never going to join the military, but thanks for asking."

'Course, there are exceptions to the rule, as always. There are those pushy, annoying recruiters that don't really know how to recruit. Know why? Ssh..here's a secret. Most recruiters don't want to be recruiters. They are either on their way out and looking for an easy ride to retirement or they are the shitbags that were TOLD to go to Recruiting Command.
