vincent ramping exception..hmm,,

Del's game sounds ready and fun from a game play stand point - Im personally looking forward to playing against Shadow co. & Riot. I know Section8 is ready. Moving past Vincent and his marker problems for just a second, there are a few concerns so we know what to expect..
  • Will the tower, radar station and new tree house be safe to use?
  • Will the co2 fill stations and hpa compressor be ready?
  • Will there be a bathroom?
  • Will there be enough experienced refs to run the game safely?

Vincent: You may want to consider borrowing a marker. Personally I'de rather see Del spend his time on bigger issues.

Vince,

I hate to say this, but I think you made a bad purchase if you didn't already have a marker with a semi-only mode. There are likely going to be other places and times (like rec ball for example) where your marker won't be welcomed. If I had a suitable marker for you to borrow (I'm assuming a Sniper II or an Autococker wouldn't interest you) I'd happily lend it to you.

Del,
As a long time head ref, if this was my decision to make, I would say "no exception". Chances are, during the game, the refs will get lots of grief over "that guy shooting the ramping marker" and other players thinking it's ok if they ramp since Vince is. Only a small percentage of the players at the scenario will have visited this site and know what's going on. And Vince will likely get blamed for every incidence of overshooting even if he wasn't around at the time.

But since it's very unlikely I'll be at this scenario, neither my vote or my opinion counts for much.

Thumper:
I didn't make this an issue, I simply thought it better to take a minute of Del's time instead of blatantely ramping away.
Aerion:
I would not have bought the gun, had I known this scenario would be no ramping. I asked about a month ago about ramping, and i was told there would be no problem with it. I've got a whole group of guys coming out to play this scenario, all of which will be shooting 10-15 in semi. you will see no difference in our play, as we will all be shooting the same bps. Unless someone comes out yelling "that guys ramping", noone will notice. Still, I've asked the people of this forum, mostly guys from the confederate team, and they have no problem with it... I don't see why you do.
This is a once in a blue moon kind of deal, if i had known at switch back with the signs were up for gettysburg, I would have already planned no ramping.. I need to get something else. but its a bit late now...

you cannot say that because i will be shooting 15 too, not ramping, but i assure you, i will be shooting 15. Another thing, can you REALLY tell if sombody is ramping? Unless it's set to like .12 sec. ramp you wont be able to notice it, another thing, i really dont see how ramping will effect the game so drastically. Think about it, you shoot 6 bps at a target 50 yards away, (dont give me techincal crap, im just making an example), lets say it takes that ball 3 sec to reach that target. So if it takes 3 sec for my paint to hit that target guess how long im going to shoot at it? About 3 sec. That's 45 paintballs in 3 sec, so either if im ramping or shooting semi there will be 45 paintballs all going in the same sisuation within 3 sec. So, you honestly have the same controll either shooting semi or ramping, ramping is just easier and takes less thought process, which really isint thought, it just helps with the fingers.

...just thoughts...

This thread wasn't meant to become argumentative.
its been up for over a week, and has over 200 views. Every confederate that has posted has had no problem with this issue. Others I'm sure have seen it, but either felt indifferent or didn't care. Aerion you seem to think that one person ramping out of a 100 will be some big deal. if this stops you from enjoying your scenario, I'd say its a bit sad. Avid woodsballers from the forum have approved, and I have already proved the safety issue of the gun(I would not have asked had I not thought it was safe in the first place).yet for some other reason you give me problems in numerous threads.
Let me also remind you that people at switchback ramped (not from my team), and they ramped over 15... they were neither noticed by most, and noone was bonus balled by them.
Del, the majority of people have spoken,
but you of course have the final word.

I have been off of junkie for a while so i have missed the whole ramping issue,I will add my 2 cents with the little knowledge I have of the threads concerning this issue.I played against all of the sc pirates at sniper and I never had an issue with them overshooting,I ran into them three times and in all three incedents we had a great firefight.I give props to sc pirates and enjoy playing with them.Having said that I will also have to say that aerion has a good point ,Players tend to scream overshooting when they hear a fast marker. If they know the pirates I am sure it won't be an issue.I have played alot of scenarios with alot of very fast markers so I am used to the rate of fire and feel comfortable playing against them but there is always a player at EVERY event that screams about being overshot.I do hope the issue is resolved one way or the other

spyderman- had fun playing with you guys last scenario too, you definately gave us a run for our money, and absolutely raped us on the side of anteitem.
I agree that someone will always complain about overshooting. I myself got mega bonusballed last scenario, and I hate it. You can ask anyone that knows me, I get pretty upset if i take a few extra. I treat people the way I'd like to be treated, Overshooting won't be a problem for me or any of SC pirates..

I agree with that myself.I tend to get a little angry when I am overshot but I have calmed down alot through experiance.I try to determine whether it was intentional(and most of the time it isn't) before I blow my top now.I just wanna let everyone know that in my experiance with the pirates they play stand up ball and no one has to worry about them bonasballin anyone.
