TriggerTyme Mafia

Alright everyone. For the most part there was good attendance at the first mafia meeting. We need to get some input on ideas and suggestions for the basis of what we the players are looking for at TriggerTyme.Robbie gave good reprensentation of the efforts being put forth by the owners/management of TriggerTyme. We need to put forth effort ourselves. If we hope to have a great field to play at with the support of the owners,we too need to show effort and support. We need to reach agreeable terms on such aspects as all day air, paint prices, paint quality,team/group discounts, etc. In such terms we need to reach an agreement as to whether there will be a membership fee for being a member of the Mafia, and if so,how the monies will be utilized for the benefit of the field.Such as improvements to field structures, compound improvements, etc.
We need to hear opinions from the Mafia members. What do ya'll think? We have several issues to address such as BYOP (bring your own paint)? All day air?Paint Prices?Paint grades/quality/brands?Everyone give some input and let's all go from there.

Apologies for not making it to Saturday's meeting, I am wrapped up in a logisitcal nightmare right now and am trying desparately to lock it down. The report I received back from our representative that did attend was highly favorable.

My thoughts in response to the above questions are:

1) Membership fees- I would oppose for a variety of reasons: Primarily, I think it is imperative for everyone to remember the chief goal of the Mafia team, which, based on my understanding from Robbie as well as through my own observations, is to promote the field and its image through a collaberative arrangement between a regional, autonomous team (or league) structure. It is in TT's best interests to not introduce a membership fee as doing so would invite downward pressure on the desire of some players to participate in the league (depending on cost of course). Additionally, in order to effectively manage a fee structure, an oversight body of players would have to be appointed and a clear plan of how the costs and any residual balances would be allocated etc would need to be drafted. Frankly, discussing membership fees will bring about many additional responsibilities that could potentially "take the fun out of the league." Without attempting to undermine our intent to help promote and improve the field (personally if needed), I would contend that Robbie's current plan should be sufficient to draw enough business and revenues to effectively allow him to make whatever improvements he deems necessary. However, I think it is beyond our responsibilties as players to contribute directly to this enterprise. Please make no mistake of what I am saying here: my intent is to preserve the interests of my teammates as well as to promote Robbie's interests and in order to do that effectively there must be some separation of duties. Robbie has already been burned from over-zealous players making a home in his field and expressing too candidly their thoughts on how he should otherwise run his business. So, I will say it here and now: we need to remember that the field is Robbie's right and responsibility and our privilidge to play on.. bottom line.. a membership fee structure is but one of many arrangements that can blur the lines in the relationship we have as of right now.

2) BYOP has always been a simple logic to me as well as an incontestable truth. BYOP helps to keep overall costs down: lower paint costs for the players, less inventory for the field owner. The cheaper it is to play, the more people will play. The more people that play, the more contiguous the field owner's revenue stream should be (Barring issues with insurance etc which can actually be overcome through a control structure of checking paint prior to entrance on the field- plausible deniability combined with due care can disprove gross negligence) and therefore so should the profits. A fee to use BYOP on top of field and air fees should be sufficient (with the right amount of traffic) to cover the field's overhead.

I also would like to add that i did enjoy hearing about how robbie wants to start playing with us. i like this aspect because it brings another person into the game of paintball. (and who better than a field owner?) i like the idea of him traveling to scenarios with us and playing in a few at home. one of the reasons i like this so much is because it shows that he really does care. it shows he wants to be involved, not as much from just a business aspect, but now a player's. i liked everything he had to bring to the table yesterday. lots of interesting ideas. and as said previously, we the members, need to share and colaberate on new ideas to improve the Mafia and Triggertyme. i would also like to say this, i started playing at triggertyme, and i dont intend on stoping anytime soon. i love the field because it is where i learned most of what i know about paintball. i hope the Mafia does well, and also i am planing on having an even better season at triggertyme in 07.

Robbie and the TriggerTyme staff are putting forth a great effort to turn things around at the field. The air issue has been addressed and fixed, they have a brand new compressor and we're getting 4500 psi fills. Also, stocking of differents grades and price ranges of paint have been discussed and are being handled by the Owner of TriggerTyme. The pro-shop has underwent renovation and the entire building is in the midst of undergoing a facelift as well as redesign of interior.Several structures have been renovated and several have been newly constructed.
So,give the field a chance and show your support.
