yea i think he linked the vids, because he looked as thought he was pretty far away from the tree line and it would be a very very hard shot and with tremedous recoil from a gun like that...unprobable

That makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for the info.
As for the power of a 50 cal, ever see those videos of US snipers taking out taliban hiding in the cliffs? Parts fly very far.

Armor piercing 50 cal bullets can pentrate 1 inch of steel plating, so you can imagine what it can do to brick and cinderblock

as for that video, it is not what it seems.that is a slowed down version of a .270 remington shooting at groundhogs in montana. sorry to burst your bubble. it was posted on a fifty caliber shooting association site a little while ago. they actually contacted the guy who did the filming,to confirm. if you look closly, you will see what i mean.
m82's are ok, but i out shoot them with my LAR GRIZZLY. competed against them many times, not impressed. also, got to use them in iraq, with decient results. all depends on ammo, shooter, distance, and a few other things.
i have shot trees in half(4"to 6") in 1 shot with my grizzly, but that was at 500 yds, with no wind, and custom ammo.not at the base, but about mid way up the tree. also , shot buzzards out of a tree(they disappear with a big poof of feathers)at 600 yds. gotta love big bore weapons!!!

There's no doubt the barett could take the tree down but I don't think he did it...

Saw it profiled on Cable "Future Weapons" awsome firepower...

yeah i'm going with popular opinion... could he shoulder fire it? of course- its designed with minimal recoil in mind. could that rifle take out a tree like that at that range? sure. without a doubt... the only way he shot that tree over is if one of those rounds hit it. one round would do the trick... the rest of those rounds went somewhere into the clouds... watch the muzzle draw up as he fires... those shots fired after the first were headed for the moon... no trees on the moon. haha... but nonetheless a pretty sweet weapon.
