how about this..

I hate to yield on these things cause it makes me look wimpy, and I dont undestand why rate of fire is so important to so many players. Please dont take my comments as my endorcing it's importance.

------------------------------------------------

Ill replace the clause "6bps max" for Worst Case with:

Rate of fire restriction : 15bps max, with a personal request by Thumper: "Attention veteran players: please observe a self imposed a 6bps cap. Team captains - please police your own, so we dont have to."

Being outgunned makes you a better player,it makes you choose your shots wisely and a better plan of attack.Hell if I want to spray paint Ill go buy a can of Krylon or break out the Matrix.

Overshooting is going to happen, occasionally, in paintball - even with pumps. My biggest problem with high rates of fire is that it virutally guarantees overshooting as someone who is firing 15bps will have 6-10 balls in the air while not knowing how many will actually hit the target. If all 6-10 balls hit, that's an overshoot. If you're firing at a steady 15bps you WILL overshoot. You can't help it. It is a certainty.

High rate of fire is unsportsmanlike IMHO, for the reason mentioned above. Furthermore, it encourages - if not causes - really bad playing habits. I can't tell you how many trigger jockeys I've taking down with my Sniper. Aimed shots will beat spray and pray 80% of the time.

I agree with Thumper in that setting the rate of fire to 15bps for this event is unfortunately necessary. Far too many people have substituted rate of fire for playing skill and have invested lots of dollars into high rate of fire markers. Sadly, leaving the rate of fire at 6bps means too many people won't come to the event for the aforementioned reasons.

Perhaps we might try an experiment sometime - just for giggle and grins. No restrictions on rate of fire, but if a player is hit with three or more hits, then the person that shot them is eliminated instead.
