this is the third article on this neo **** mom who is still blaming the world for the fact she did not keep up with her kid. now she is going to get a bunch of soccer moms together with the same inabilities and complicate it for those of us who play paintball. i again ask the question "why cant these parents take responsibility for their actions or lack there of?"

Unfamilar with Nanny state Moms as we are in the South, these stories consistently beg where was Mom or Dad while Junior shot his eye out (or one of his unmentioned friends). These people have been numbed by the continious blare of warning labels on everything from pencils to cottage cheese. Yes the sport is safer than many but punishes stupidity with the singular and only injury of "putting your eye out".

When I was 12 my Mom caught me shooting arrows with a 6 ft fiberglass bow straight up and then catching them before they buried themselves 12 inches into the ground. They would disappear into the sky and take 7 to 8 seconds before I could see them again and then prepare to catch the speedy shaft without damaging the feathers. Raised on a southern farm and educated as a Nurse, Mom explained as only a RN could what the arrow would do to me and then left me with bow and arrows to find my own fate.

In every persons life there is that first day that you must learn to take responsibility for your life and limb and those around you. Using the law to delay the day our children must learn this without parental supervision only increases the danger as cars, drugs, and alcohol await. Using the law to reduce the psychological impact of poor parenting is unwise also as it leads to the societal decay of parenting standards and its oozing corrupting influence on the children themselves.

These parents are looking to the State to protect them from any and all dangers in life. For Us the question is how do we protect our sport from these parents?

    The facts contradict this assumption.”

Correct me if Im wrong but if a parent leaves a child unsupervised with a "real" gun it considered child endangerment so what is she getting charged with since she wants to throw the "gun" word around???

I have several paintball guns. I will use the term paintball gun and paintball marker interchangably. I don't bow to political correctness.

Isn't it strange that after you read past the headlines that state someone has been injured seriously playing paintball you find out they were hurt playing in unsupervised games in someone's back yard instead of a professionally run paintball facility equipped with referees and other staff who's primary responsibility is to see to it that everyone obeys the safety rules so nobody gets hurt.

    Give me a freaking break.
