    Scenario Reffing Manual - 2009

    Scenario Reffing Manual - 2009

hey all - while the official word is not released yet, this manual is getting ready to take off..

the official working copy is posted here for the time being:
    >>> Scenario Reffing Manual 2009 <<<

and I'm getting ready to flesh out the remaining sections, er: with help.

Please note: contributors will be noted in the sections to which they contribute... including constructive commentary, contributions, and even entire sections.

PBjunkie has provided the space for the assembly of the past efforts - and I personally thank Rich and the mods here for providing a killer venue for this effort.

Don't be surprised is you see me fishing for ideas, feedback, commentary, etc on other forums. I'm not spamming or any such thing - just trying to gather the experience on paper in the most efficient way possible.

Grendel and Aerion have been tapped to play as official contributors and framers - with Jes hopefully helping with the final edits.

I'm not at liberty to say where this is headed, but rest assured it is pretty exciting.

    -----------------------------------------------

April 1, 2009 : Goal - there are around 11 sections not yet started. I would think 3 weeks to draft these, 10 days for unforseen delays, and 3 weeks for final edits. Say : May 31, 2009 as a completion date.

    Thumper,

One area I would like to see a little insert is on basic first aid or what to do if there is a medical emergency. It doesn't have to be something as teaching ref first aid, but basic information that would keep them from hurting someone more and how to get the chain started to get the person the care they need.

Also I think it would be good to include general info on nature and environment conditions that could effect them or other players. Example to stay hydrated, bug stray for tick, insects, sun tan lotion, watch out for snakes, layer your clothing for cold weather, rain gear...

If you see this as something that is needed and would like anymore input on just let me know.

I think this is a great thing you are doing. I think it's great and I appreciate it and everyone assisting you.

    Play safe and have fun,

btw: happy birthday old man - ya know 39 is like almost 50, which is half of a hundred - which is only a handfull of zeros away from a million - so logically in a year or two, you will also be older than dinosaurs!!! -- who knew?

Back in the day, NAPRA required all certified refs to be First Responder qualified.

Something we need to consider when discussing first aid type stuff is liability. As I recall, First Reponders and below fall under "Good Samarian" laws. Basically, if a Samaritan attempts to render first aid type medical help, there is no liability even if the patient dies or their condition made worse by bad treatment. At EMT and above, liability can be assigned.

What I don't know is how an organization might be treated. If a paid staff of a paintball field attempts to render medical aid and the patient dies, is there liabilty? Probably the field's insurance would cover but I don't really know.

    Ref of the Old Code
    NAPRA #256

And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away
    .
